The Project Brief - ICT
-
When we start the ICT/Geography project, we need to
decide on database
fields and data capture forms
-
Suitable database fields revolve around land usage in
the area. We can make this more interesting if we
transfer digital pictures of the areas. The geography
departments decide on fields, whilst the ICT
departments set up the databases.
-
Data capture
forms are used to collect info. for the database.
Basically a question sheet / tick box / fill in the
gaps sheet which equates to the database fields.
-
Pupils make email contact with pupils in Haggerston
School prior to transfer of databases. This should
consist of a brief introduction e.g. Hello I am
. . . followed by a brief description of the
geographical features of the area - perhaps pupils
could talk about the impact of the floods in Bewdley -
general discussion of life in the village in Bewdley
and population density etc.
N.B. Pupils identify themselves using first names
only and do not reveal personal details such as
addresses.
-
Pupils use database
materials from East London and Bewdley to produce
write ups. These will produce some interesting
materials for comparison as the areas are very
different.
-
The materials generated can be used to produce
interesting wall displays.
-
In addition to the ICT and geography aspects of this
project, it will also lead to purposeful multicultural
interaction.
